Life is weird. Just when I think I’ve got a handle on things, things get all off-kilter.
Today I discovered one of my older works that I was re-releasing has been pirated so much that Amazon Kindle was leery of publishing it. That was very disconcerting…sad even. Now I have to traipse around the web and figure out where the pirates have it up and tell them to take it down. What a bunch of jerks.
And that’s my little rant. I can’t sleep, so this post is truly random.
I have recently written a little on a coauthor piece with my old friend Crymsyn Hart. We toss this ghost story back and forth and can hopefully get it ready to go out into the world soon. I have worked here and there on a book in my Shahzar line of fantasy, a book in my sci fi line (Em-7 series and Resurrecting Roland), and fiddled with a couple of older works that may never see the light of day. Sometimes it’s good to slip into those old works. Some are borderline ancient now and it feels like visiting a long lost relative’s home to re-read them or write a chapter or two. It’s like sitting down in a place I love and just being there without the stresses and drama of real life…for a little while. I think in the past three years I have been seeking that special place where I fit into real life and feel safe and at peace. Some days I find it and hold very still, hoping it will last.
But it never does. Time is fleeting. Everything changes day by day. All we can do is try to keep up. All we can do is try to be happy when we can. Cherish those good times. The memory of them will keep us strong to weather the bad ones…and pirates who steal demons.
